4th Annual Sustainability Conference
The Pittsburgh Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI), and Sustainable Pittsburgh are hosting a day long Sustainability Conference. The day begins with this year's keynote speaker, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael Krancer, and will culminate with a tour of Phipp's Conservatory's current construction project the Center for Sustainable Landscapes.
Ohio River Valley Soils Seminar XLII
The ASCE Cincinnati Section Geotechnical Group would like to invite you and any of your colleagues to the 42nd Annual Ohio River Valley Soils Seminar (ORVSS). This year’s topic is Lessons Learned: Failure and Forensics. The one-day seminar will be on Friday, October 21st at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. Attendees will be eligible for 7.5 PDHs.

Moving Ahead 2010: Sustainable Transportation Solutions for the 21st Century
Is there a sustainable fuel alternative in our transportation future? If so, what will it look like and who will lead the way? Can alternative energy cars save the U.S. automotive industry? And what is "clean" energy and how should it best be used in our transportation systems?
Those and other questions will be discussed May 2-4 at "Moving Ahead 2010: Sustainable Transportation Solutions for the 21st Century."
Marshall Univ. S.A.M.E Second Annual Winter Technical Conference
The second annual Marshall University Society of American Military Engineers Winter Technical Conference will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 8:00 am until 4:15pm. Seven technical presentations are on the agenda which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Summit on Sustainability & the Environment
MORPC is having a Summit on Sustainability & the Environment on Tuesday, October 6. The Summit is packed full of breakout sessions on sustainability, the environment, being green, local foods, and more. Jack Hanna of the Columbus Zoo, will give thrilling stories of exotic creatures, diverse cultures and their relationship to central Ohio – and he is bringing some of his animals along. The panel of experts from AEP, Battelle, and the Columbus Council on World Affairs will discuss local “green” initiatives that are having global impacts.
APWA International Public Works Congress
The APWA International Public Works Congress and Exposition will be in Columbus, Ohio September 13-16. If ASCE members are interested, below is a link to a Free Exhibit pass that you can use ($35 value) for the expo on any of the days the exposition is open (September 13-15). This workshop, targeted at a Midwestern audience, will bring together those producing and using traffic data. The program is oriented to sharing experiences, approaches and challenges among the public agencies, especially those using traffic data as a fundamental input to corridor management plans.
8th Historic Bridges Conference
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science and the College Engineering will host the 8th Historic Bridges Conference in Columbus, Ohio, on April 28-29, 2008. The conference will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between engineers and preservationists. A preliminary program is now available, including registration materials. Pre-registration is highly encouraged by April 15th, as space is limited.
