ASCE Members,

The Metro Early College High School (the Metro School) has an internship program for their students and they are looking for mentors and internship sites. This is an opportunity for you as a professional to help a young person fulfill their potential. Please read the message from Mr. Neugebauer below.

Dear Colleague,
My name is Cory Neugebauer and I am the Internship Coordinator for Metro Early College High School. Many of you receiving this email have participated in Metro’s Internship Program in the past (or have expressed interest in participating) and some of you are hearing about our program for the first time. To those who have participated in the past, let me extend my sincere thanks for what you have given back to our students. Hopefully you feel much has been returned to you throughout the experience that shows first-hand how your contribution is invaluable to the growth and development of our students. To those who have yet to participate, I invite you to become part of a very special experience that connects aspiring young people with real-world professionals in order to foster partnerships that will benefit you (your organization), our students, and our community.

Game to spark interest in Civil Engineering

Time Engineers (www.timeengineers.com) is a video game that teaches principles in civil engineering where students can time-travel to build pyramids, irrigate farm land, build a catapult, and much more.

Time Engineers teaches engineering, science, and math without leaving the fun of gaming behind. Students travel in a cool time machine to three different time periods and encounter typical engineering problems to be solved in order to build pyramids, irrigate farm land, command a WWII submarine, raise and lower medieval drawbridges, and much more.
