January President's Letter
I hope that everyone had an outstanding holiday season and are now ready as I am looking forward to the exciting upcoming ASCE events over the next six months, including dinner meetings for the months of January and April, lunch meetings for February, March and May and concluding with the June golf outing.

January Dinner Meeting
Topic: Caisson Failure Case Study
Joint Meeting Between SEAoO and ASCE

Bill will present his expert witness testimony in a case involving a caisson failure resulting in approximately 6” of settlement and significant damage to the building. The presentation will cover the many problems contributing to the failure and the “red flags” that went unaddressed by the parties involved, including the structural engineer, geotechnical engineer and inspection agency. The presentation will close with an interactive discussion on how lessons learned can be applied and preventative measures taken to protect your own projects. SEAoO and ASCE are pleased to invite you to join us for this valuable seminar.
December President's Letter
In November our luncheon meeting was held at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center where it was a pleasure to hear the speakers Michael Bongiorno of DesignGroup and Ryan Hoffman of Heapy Engineering discuss the innovative design strategies of the structure and its surroundings. They did an excellent job at presenting what key factors were taken into consideration for the Center to meet the LEED Gold certification.
