Depositional systems and hydrocarbon potential of the Upper Devonian Ohio black shales as interpreted from core and geophysical logs from northern Ohio

8:00 AM | Lecture: Devonian tectonic setting and stratigraphy of the northern Appalachian Basin; Core logging and evaluation methods; Relationships between lithology, geophysical-log signature, and sequence stratigraphy. |
9:00 AM | Core logging and description exercise |
12:00 PM | Discussion of morning group core logging exercise (lunch provided) |
1:00 PM | Core logging and description exercise |
4:00 PM | Discussion of afternoon group core logging exercise; Synthesis of core lithological descriptions, log signature, and hydrocarbon potential. |
5:30 PM | Optional visit to local Devonian shale outcrops (weather permitting) |
