CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The 15th Annual Great Lakes Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Conference
on
Applications of Geotechnical Instrumentation for the Performance Evaluation of Constructed Facilities
May 9, 2008 – Indianapolis, IN
The field of geotechnical engineering from inception has been considered largely to be an applied science fraught with uncertainty and potentially large consequences from unexpected performance of constructed facilities. Subsequently, the risks presented by these elements require control, and performance monitoring through the use of instrumentation is an essential tool for managing these risks. Typically, one or more uncertainties (e.g., deformation, rotation, force, etc.) are monitored to reduce the likelihood of undesirable performance.
