Civil Engineering Career Day - 2014

The Central Ohio Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is sponsoring a "Civil Engineering Career Day". The purpose of the program is to expose high school juniors to the profession in hopes that they may consider civil engineering as a career. In the past, the program has received national recognition from ASCE for the excellent exposure that the students and community receive as part of the program. This year the program will take place April 24, 2014.

This experience consists of a welcome reception at The Ohio State University Department of Civil Engineering, three tours relating to different aspects of civil engineering and a luncheon at the OSU 4-H Center, which will feature speakers from the Civil Engineering Departments of The Ohio State University and Ohio University. The students will either be transported by bus or walk to the different tours and lunch locations. There is no cost to the school or student. Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from OSU.

Area schools are invited to send up to five junior ranking students. Since the number of participants is limited by the size of the bus, reservations will be on a first come basis. Please contact Emily by April 18, 2014, if interested. The event will happen rain or shine. Students will need to dress appropriately, including pants (no shorts) and hard sole, closed toed shoes. Students without appropriate dress attire will not be permitted to participate. Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided if required for the tours. There is a permission slip that needs to be filled out. Any student without a signed slip will not be permitted to participate. The location of Hitchcock Hall on OSU campus is shown here. Students should park in the Tuttle Parking Garage. Parking passes will be provided at registration.
